Places of Interest We Visited
1. Shanghai Yitel Hotel
Rating: 4 / 5
We couldn't get any Wifi internet connection in the hotel that day, so majority of us had to message our parents using our phones. The beds were extremely comfy and felt like soft and fluffy gigantic marshmallows! :) However, their dining hall was pretty small (40-50 seats) and had little variety of food to choose from :(
2. Suzhou Snowy Sea Hotel
Rating: 4.5 / 5
The Wifi internet connection there was really strong and the beds were equally as comfortable and soft as the ones at Shanghai Yitel Hotel. There was also a huge variety of delicious food during the breakfast buffet which were much to our satisfactory. :)) Highly recommended!!!!
3. Humble Administrator's Garden(拙政园)
Rating: 4 / 5
An extremely beautiful and breath-taking place with seasonal plants and small ponds. It is a conserved traditional place with ancient-looking pagodas and stone bridges. It is an attraction that is very rich Chinese culture! Highly recommended especially for tourists who enjoy the nature and are very much interested in knowing more about Chinese architecture!
4. Haidilao(海底捞)
Rating: 5 / 5
The dishes there were excellent and very filling :) They had a few fruit bars where diners can get free and unlimited access to fresh juicy fruits! The service was AWESOME AND WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT IF YOU ARE SEARCHING FOR GOOD HOT POTS/STEAMBOATS! There was even a friendly and kind staff outside the toilets who provided great service as he would offer moisturiser and paper towels to us.
5. Suzhou No. 1 Silk Factory(苏州第一丝绸厂)
Rating: 4 / 5
A remarkable experience for us! We were able to witness how silk is being retrieved from the silkworms' cocoons and how they are produced into products like silk blankets or bed covers! We were really amazed by the products that can be made with silk or different parts of a silkworm -- facial/ hand creams, pillows, blanket, purses and many more! There were souvenir shops that sold many high quality and colourful silk products like silk scarfs and cross-body bags! We certainly recommend tourists to visit this factory as they can get an opportunity to touch those soft and smooth silkworms!
6. Suzhou Museum
Rating: 3 / 5
The museum showcase historical artifacts that date back to the Spring and Autumn Period a.k.a the Warring States Period. The design of the museum is also very unique and special. This attraction is definitely a GO-TO if you are very interested in historical artifacts.
7. Shantang Street
Rating: 3.5 / 5
A traditional-looking street with many shops and stalls that sell many different things like food, key chains and many many more! However, motorcycles are allowed to be driven along the narrow, crowded road so BE CAREFUL while walking along the crowded streets! And since the place is also very crowded, do BEWARE of pickpockets!
8. Acrobatics Show
Rating: 5 / 5
The performances were extremely exciting and nail-biting as performers walked on ferris wheels, jumped through hoops, drove motorcycles in a spherical cage, suspended in the air by delicate-looking silk fabrics, etc, all of which seemed highly impossible and dangerous, keeping us at the edge of our seats. The awesomeness of the performance is indescribable and we HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend tourists to watch the performance! The performers' dedication and commitment to their stunning acts will definitely leave your mouth hanging WIDE open!
9. Lu Xun Memorial Hall
Rating: 3.5 / 5
In this attraction, we learned more about Lu Xun -- who he was, why he is famous, why did he write books etc. It was a very meaningful place to visit where we had learnt many new things of how he is called the Father of Chinese literature etc. There is also an actual face mask of Mr Lu Xun!
10. Oriental Pearl's TV Tower
Rating: 4.5 / 5
A tower of about 600 storeys high with a absolutely STUNNING bird's eye view of Shanghai. We basically stood on a glass floor of about 500 storeys high from the ground floor and stare out under us into the beautiful scenery of Shanghai. It was quite scary at first knowing that the only thing separating us and the earth which was like 500 storeys below us was only this delicate-looking glass. Highly recommended if you like to enjoy thrilling surprises and cooling strong breezes!
11. Nanjing Road
Rating: 4 / 5
The China's version of Singapore's Orchard Road where many shops are available for you! It is recommended for you to shop at if you especially enjoy shopping!
12. Xintiandi Shikumen Museum
Rating: 4 / 5
An interesting place where a display of a Shikumen housing in the past is shown. We were able to explore the different rooms in the house, which was very traditional and ancient and had a unique mixture of Eurasian and Chinese style. It was really fun and meaningful to see such a totally different type of housing and also to learn what this type of houses were built for in the past. Highly recommended if you would like to explore something new!
